ORTEMS Manufacturing Planner (MP)

Homme aux jumelles

A real-time answer to key questions:

  • What decisions should be made in terms of subcontracting/timetable changes/temporary workers/lead-time offset to accommodate capacity?
  • What are the earliest or latest dates to assign to WOs, based on lead time, to avoid being late or accumulating inventories?
  • How to take into account synchronizations related to the WO network or supply?

For strategic and tactical planning for your factories.

ORTEMS Manufacturing Planner is the next generation in production planning tools that enable optimizing MPS and Production Planning. Incorporation of a WO based model, a continuous time bucket (bucketless planning) and flow synchronization forms an innovative approach to MRP production planning by synchronizing ERP in an identical, integrated model. This concept enables managing production and inventories at finite capacity through medium-term proactive production management; in the past production and inventories were managed by short-term push flows.

Manufacturing Planner in brief:

  • Improve customer service and comply with lead times
  • Anticipate and control workload variations
  • Synchronize the production of workshops with different jobs and processes
  • Decrease inventories and reduce cycle times
  • Resynchronize production flows with optimal responsiveness to accommodate unforeseen events
  • Reduce planning time
  • Easily integrate

For who?
For manufactures who are subject to pressures summed up by four factors:

  • Price. To keep their customers following trade liberalization and the accession of emerging nations, companies must reduce their costs to maintain their margins.
  • Quality. Customers are more demanding: only companies that manufacture mid-range and high end products are still present in the market.
  • Quantities. The products' life cycle is shortening, the number of parts numbers is increasing and ordered quantities are decreasing. Companies can no longer turn a profit using the economies of scale guaranteed by mass production.
  • Lead times. The decrease in quantities ordered and the shortening of the product life cycle mean that customers require increasingly shorter manufacturing and delivery lead times to meet changing and unpredictable requests.

Benefits:

  • Improvement in customer service rate
  • Reduction in wait times and cycle times
  • Reduction in materials inventories and WIP
  • Regulation of activity and workload
  • Increased productivity
  • Decrease in production costs
  • Planning time savings
