The QUIES Company is a French SME, specialized in ear and eye protection products. Stephane Eurin, production manager at QUIES explains “Our business has changed a lot in the past years. For instance on the distribution side the supermarkets business is run with more pull flow and just-in time logic implying less forecasted orders in advance.

Furthermore, the retail market has imposed strict penalties in the event of non-compliance to delivery due dates. On our side we were looking at improving our inventory ratio both on raw material and finished products. So far, production planning and scheduling was
becoming extremely complex.

Up to now, we have been using ERP Sage X3 for production management and Excel spreadsheets for manufacturing schedules. Synchronising those tools on a daily basis was generating a lot of mismatch between production plan and raw material needs.
As a consequence our replenishment data were mostly unreliable highlighting our information system limits.
